• This internship gave me the chance to apply everything I'd been building toward, academically and through my own projects, in a real, hands-on setting.
• I worked with over 20,000+ rows of industry data, where my focus was on understanding the data initially and applying cleaning and transformation techniques.
• It gave me hands-on exposure to tools like SQL, Excel, Power BI, and Python for performing each task.
• Along the way, I got to identify patterns and flag inefficiencies the team could focus on and improve, using pivot table analysis and Power BI dashboards.
• I also automated a small-scale dental appointment scheduling process to cut down repetitive manual work; this reduced the effort involved by about 20-30%.
• On the modeling side, I built a logistic regression model as a baseline, then developed it further with Random Forest and XGBoost for a healthcare prediction project focused on diabetes risk analysis.
• The goal wasn't just accuracy; I worked on making the system more efficient across other classification metrics too.
• I integrated SMOTE to handle class imbalance, and added SHAP explainability to highlight which vitals were actually driving the predictions, which fed into root-cause analysis and diet recommendations for patients accordingly.
